Costume Quest 2 is a Psychonauts and Broken Age studio Double Fine role-playing and puzzle game. It’s about transforming the costumes of Halloween for children, and thus enabling them to fight time-traveling dentists and candy-snatching aliens in their struggle to save the future from sugar-phobic tyranny. It’s now out.
Key to enjoying Costume Quest 2 – and unfortunately there are a number of great old excuses why you wouldn’t like it – is going along with your deliberately childish sense of wonder and silliness. For example, in a dark dystopia where no one is allowed to eat candy or play dress-up or have any fun whatsoever, playing hide and seek is just as much a problem as getting rid of the fascist who is in charge of it all.
The first Costume Quest was a landmark title for Double Fine; it was the first game to emerge from Amnesia Fortnight, a two-week stretch of small-scale games exploration.
